GNT #125: The hit is fitting the shan
Jun 19, 2025read time: 2 minutes
The past few months have felt like someone hit the gas and forgot to tell the rest of us to buckle up.
New AI drops weekly.
Social platforms change their algorithms mid-post.
The advice carousel is spinning at full speed.
Everyone’s launching something.
Or pivoting.
Or rebranding.
Or announcing their new offer stack powered by 14 tools you’ve never heard of.
Meanwhile, you're just trying to keep the wheels on while building a business that means something.
Let me say this clearly:
It’s not you. It’s the pace.
The market is loud. And if you’re not careful, you’ll start mistaking busyness for momentum.
So how do you stay strategic when the whole world is spinning?
You filter fast.
You lead slow.
And you practice sturdiness from the inside out.
That's what this week is all about. You'll learn 4 simple but powerful mindset shifts to help you:
-
Stay calm in the chaos
-
Make smarter, not faster, decisions
-
Lead from clarity instead of reaction
Let's get to it.
1. You are not behind
Now read that 3 more times. ↑
You are in a season of noise, where it's easy to feel like you're not moving fast enough. But much of that feeling is manufactured. False urgency is a real business threat.
According to McKinsey, the average business leader is processing 5x more digital inputs per day than they were in 2019. That input creates pressure—and often pressure without direction.
You start reacting instead of creating.
You chase growth instead of building it.
You feel behind on things that were never even in your plan.
💡 Quick gut-check:
What are you measuring your success against right now? Is it your goals—or someone else’s content?
2. Not every opportunity is your opportunity
The growth space is full of good ideas. But too many good ideas can blur your focus and drain your energy.
A new client recently told me:
"I keep trying to implement every tip I see, and I’m exhausted—nothing is actually converting."
So we regrounded in her business model, ideal audience, and her version of success.
We cut 40% of her to-dos.
Within 6 weeks she had her best-attended workshop yet.
You don’t need to do all the things.
You need to do the right things.
💡 Run your to-do list through these filters:
-
Is this aligned with my business model?
-
Does it solve a real problem for my people?
-
Can I execute this with quality in this season?
3. Stop trying to optimize everything
Optimization culture will convince you that your homepage headline, your newsletter pop-up, and your Notion templates all need A/B testing by next Tuesday.
I can tell you from experience that most businesses don’t get stuck because of poor optimization. They get stuck because they have too many half-finished ideas.
💡 If you’re feeling stuck, ask:
-
What’s already working that I could double down on?
-
What’s half-built that I could actually finish?
-
What am I delaying because I’m afraid it won’t be “perfect”?
4. Anchor yourself
This pace won’t slow down. But you can still move through it feeling steady.
You are the lighthouse when you stay rooted in clarity.
Revisit your version of success.
Remind yourself of your values and your non-negotiables.
Then lead from that place—not from fear or panic.
Anchoring doesn’t have to be complicated.
It might look like choosing one core project to protect this quarter—and letting go of a dozen shiny ideas.
Or defining a “no list” so you don’t default to yes.
💡 Anchor exercise:
Take 5 minutes today and write your answers to:
- What does success look like to me in this season?
- What’s one thing I will say no to this week in order to stay aligned?
Takeaway
You don’t have to match the market’s pace to succeed.
You just need to know your direction, and keep taking steps—calmly, intentionally, and rooted in your version of growth.
Forward this to a friend who might need the reminder this week.
You’ve got this.
I’m always rooting for you.
